There's a bunch of shit that's been going wrong
that's making the place go down the shitter, so getting time off now
(basically a year after I started) will benefit me greatly, as I can
go sleep in and finally get some books read, and some shopping done.
:) Maybe I'll regain some of the respect I had for the fucking place
while I'm gone.

There is so much shit that's been going on in that place that I've
noticed and kind of shrugged off before. But as I'm coming up to my
one year of being there (only worked weekends for 4 months while I was
at school, but still, I worked there, damnit), I'm realizing that the
café I'm working at is going down the figurative toilet into a state
of utter despair.

It's not a chain of stores--it is a one of a kind coffee shop. One of
those neighbourhood ones where almost everyone who walks in the door
knows all the staff and basically all the customers, who are basically
people who work around the few blocks of stores that surround my shop.
We got like, a bazillion regulars, whose names I don't know some of,
but once they walk in the door, I can tell you what they usually buy.

My boss started a year and a half ago as the owner of it, and it seems
like it was alright for a while, no big problems, he got a lot of the
customers adjusted and happy.

Lately, business has been slow. Maybe the weather, maybe the fact that
there's a Tim Horton's a few blocks down, maybe the fact that there
are Starbucks on either side, just down a few blocks as well. Who
really knows. Maybe the fact that a lot of the "old school"-ish
baristas, the ones all the regulars knew and loved and preferred, got
up and quit all around the same time (well, in a span of several
months, but you know), so maybe that kind of got some of the customers
turned off the place.

But anyways, paying me and the other baristas, and trying to repair
shit that should just be replaced (like our cooler(s), our dishwasher
(which was finally replaced), our HARDWOOD floor (which looks like
shit now), our espresso machine, our coffee brewer, etc), and a lack
of customers has driven my boss to hike up the prices.

You're probably thinking it's something like a 5 cent increase for
coffee or whatever.

Try being MORE expensive than Starbucks, which, being a lower price
than Starbucks was a draw for a lot of people. Our coffee is at least
15-20 cents more expensive than Starbucks, up to 50 cents more.

Our sandwiches and wraps are more expensive.

Our soup is more expensive.

We're charging for shit we don't need to.

We're shortchanging people in regards to food quantity (like not
having a full bowl of soup, so it looks really shoddy, or my boss
leaving like, 2 inches of room at the top for coffee), and then we get
blamed for our boss trying to cut corners by pissing our customers off
for this kind of stupid shit.

We get complaints for shit he does, and if we have problems, he slides
it our way. Like, for instance, the health inspector comes in every so
often (I've met him at my old job at IGA with the mice problem, oh joy
trying to make up bs so I don't lose my job...), and if there's a
problem, my boss looks at me and subtly scolds me for problems with
shit.

He watches over our shoulders when we're at the till. Even if we've
been there for ages, he will do so. It bothers us, and it's driven so
many of our GOOD baristas to quit.

Ughhhh, pisses. me. off.

tl;dr: I may not have a job in a few months because my boss is a stupid piece of horseshit.

I cannot stay warm. At all. I blame work. :D I also blame work for making my hands all cracked and dry and gross. Stupid dishwasher FINALLY came, and so before that, for approximately 3 weeks, I was barehanded washing and grabbing dishes out of bleachy water.

I WANT TO BE WARM. But when I know I'm warm, like in bed, it's too late, and I need to get up. :(

Can't shake my head cold. I've had it for a week, but I can't get rid of the stuffed nose/sneezing/plugged ears. blehhhhh.

I refuse to get it. Absolutely refuse. I don't care if you can lock your profile or whatever, I will not break down and get one. The shit I hear on the news and on the Net about it completely turns me off.

I rather not have my friends have my name on their pictures or whatever. I don't care if that's their only method of communication amongst each other. I'm always home, so they can just pick up the fucking phone and call me, or go on MSN and talk to me, or go meet me at work. I'm not that hard to talk to, I appreciate a phone call every so often, an email, or someone popping into work.

I can't understand why my friends, who barely used Myspace at all (which I barely use now) are so adamant about Facebook. I mean, I got shit about not having a cell. What's the point if they don't bother calling me in the first place? It's like, "zomg, I don't know where Jade lives, or her home phone number, or where she works! So I'll just give her hell for not having an extra mode of communication, durdurdur". I've never bitched at them for not having AIM, or having Myspace, or a Newgrounds account, or whatever else i have that they don't.

Because I don't fucking want to. Stop asking me. I'll keep saying no. I have my reasons for not wanting a fucking Facebook, so stop trying to guilt trip me into breaking down and doing what you say--I gave up giving a shit about people guilt-tripping me into doing what they want when I stopped saying I'd come in for extra shifts when I worked at the fucking grocery store.

I have better things to do than have yet another password and username rattling around my brain for another place to picturewhore myself and to write blogs that no one reads. Why can't they understand?

I think I pissed my bff off for telling her I still don't care if Facebook isn't just for blogging. lolz.

NewGrounds, I just don't care anymore.

Most of the people I thought were friends don't bother keeping in touch anymore.

I've been feeling rocker chick-ish lately. Dunno why.

Yesterday was possibly one of the worst days ever.

I went to work, and I wasn't feeling all that great, just thought my stomach was upset and in need of food. So my co-worker and I are just hanging out at work, chilling (seriously, it's cold there), and I'm seriously not feeling good. I complain (because that's what I do :P), and then I go, "oh fuck, excuse me".

My stomach does not like me at times, and decided that the sickly-sweet bagels we have at work, the smell of them decides to make stomach go "urk".

SO I go home early, feeling alright. Kind of regretting leaving work early. So I get home, and I get into my pjs and just lie down on the couch/my dad's chair/the spare bedroom, all the while barfing so much I see green and blue (mmm...).

Couldn't keep anythign down, so I haven't eaten since Monday.

I'm feeling better, though. Tons better. YAY!

In other news, I watched a lot of Star Trek yesterday. :D

My most expensive collection (rivaling that of my extensive lingerie collection (which, mind you, is probably in the hundreds of dollars, nearing the thousand @_@)), is that of my manga.

I have been buying a lot in the last few days (mainly because I shouldn't, but I do anyways, and because there's been a sale on them ^-^).
