My headache's gone, actually. It pretty much dissipated around 10:30, and any last lingering pain was gone by the time I drank a cup of coffee at home.

Soda will dehydrate you nearly as badly as booze. An ex-boss of mine find that out the hard way. She went to bed, got up to use the bathroom, then collapsed on the floor due to dehydration. She had spent the day at the beach, drinking tons of soda; instead of water.
Nothing like waking up on the cold bathroom floor a few hours later.
